Je est un autre Arthur Rimbaud started one of his books by stating "Je est un autre" / "I is another". Starting from this, I explored the transformation a face could undergo by melting it with itself. And how too much of ourselves change who we are. The inside is not the outside.
I used portraits I took on various occasions. Removed the background, turned them to monochrome, and increased the contrast. Using different transformations on the copy, I tried to give different feelings to each image. Some are just disturbing when some are clearly creepy. And yet, the feeling transcribed changes from one person to another.
It's interesting how a simple transformation completely changes the face, rendering some facial features unrecognizable.
